New York State Assemblyman Dean Murray invites all high school students residing in the 3rd Assembly District to take part in his Annual Student Photography Contest. This contest focuses on photographs of community-based events and allows students to showcase their hometowns or schools.
Photographs can consist of town government functions or other public events; a building of some historical significance; or anything that the student feels captures the essence of their community. Entries will be judged by a panel who will look at content, photographic competence, and additional artistic factors. The winner of this contest, along with their parents or chosen guardian, will be invited to be Assemblyman Murray’s guest in Albany during an upcoming session of the New York State Assembly. The winning student will be given a guided tour of the historic Capitol and allowed access to the Assembly Chamber to take pictures during a live session of the state legislature. There are certificates awarded at a reception for winners, and publicity photographs will be taken with Assemblyman Murray. The top five photographs will be displayed in the State Legislative Building and all entries will be displayed in a local art gallery.

Open to residents of the 3rd Assembly District. Any photograph of a subject that signifies your community may be entered. This includes: Government meetings or activities Parades or other public events School events Buildings of some historical significance Members or symbols of the local police or fire department School sports or school clubs
Deadline for submission is FRIday, April 7, 2017

When submitting a photograph(s), the entry form must be completed in full. Entrants may enter 2 photos
Judging: Photographs will be reviewed by a panel of judges. The decision of the panel will be final. The top five photographs will be displayed in the State Legislative Building and all entries will be displayed in a local art gallery.
Prize: The winner, along with their parents or chosen guardian, will be invited to the State Capitol in Albany as Assemblyman Murray’s guest. While in Albany, the student will be provided with a tour of the Capitol and be taken on the Assembly floor to take pictures during a live Assembly session. ANY AND ALL TRAVEL EXPENSES TO AND FROM ALBANY AND ANY LODGING IN ALBANY WILL BE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER.
