The term composition means 'putting together' and can apply to any work of art from music to writing to photography that is arranged using conscious thought.
By following a Rule of Composition you are thinking about how the Elements are arranged and therefor the Photo has composition.

Photography Composition PowerPoints guidlines: Due in 2-1/2 weeks (before the winter-break!) Each Team will prepare a PowerPoint Presentation to demonstrate the Rules of Good Composition. PowerPoints will be presented and then published on this Photography Website... 1)Take photos using ANY method, but… 2)Photos must be taken by the students in your group this school year- so Photos cannot be from before taking Photography, and all photos must have a caption with credits given 3)The PowerPoint will be saved to the teachers flashdrive as well as the students folders. 4)Student groups will work out the details of who does what for the presentation, but the responsibility must be fairly organized: ASK YOURSELVES--How do we start? WHO WILL: A)take pictures? B) research info? C) use the computer software? D) input info? E) Facilitate/organize? 5)All work/notes/info will be kept in a master folder so all members can access this if a member of the team is absent. 6)Students will create the rubric for the grade, when presented, students who are watching will then grade the presentation, that grade will be worth 60% of the score added to the teachers score worth 40%. 7)Each of the Rules listed on the Yellow Theme List must be used.
Day 4: 2-1-18 - Work in groups for PowerPoint Project; define Rules, Input defs into the presentation-scan or print in the darkroom.
Day 5: 2-2-18 - Learn to Scan your Prints today, you will digitize them for the presentation.
Things you can do in class- Discuss who already has some pictures you can use-be critical-is it really a good example of the rule you are trying to show? make more pictures take picture develop film-print your photos/scan pictures research the rules of composition powerpoint set-up; input words - save it Things you should do outside of class- ReWatch the videos about Composition above. Look at the definitions to the Rules of Composition on the tab menu "COMPOSITION" Examine the photo examples of the Rules of Composition Take Photos using the Rules of composition with film and digital Know what Rule you used for each Photo. Practice recognizing the rules in other peoples photos; look online and in magazines-these rules will be on a test this quarter.
