Refraction Abstraction:
A Refraction technique for Abstract Picture taking ( began on 3-27-19 )

Picture
Our Classroom refraction set-up

Objective; Students will be able to Compose Abstract Photographs using the affect of refraction of a patterned background as seen through water filled glass vessels.

definition of re·frac·tion:
In PHYSICS, the bending of light as it passes from one substance to another. Here, the light rays pass from air to glass to water and back to air. The bending is caused by the differences in density between the two substances.
definition of
ab·stract art:
Art that does not attempt to represent external reality, but seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures.

We will be taking Photos in Class to explore Abstraction through Refraction!
AS THIS AMAZING EFFECT IS BASED ON PHYSICS, THESE PHOTOS WILL BE DISPLAYED AT THE  W.F. STEAM SYMPOSIUM

Students will be given opportunity in class using class film and class cameras to experiment with refraction effects. Digital Photography will be introduced.
You may include any film or prints made, toward your Seven Required Prints that use the rules of good composition for
Quarter 3.

We will also use a glass Sphere globe:
